Master Mathematicians, Impact the World: Leadership for Girls, and Pop Art Printmaking are a few of the 26 classes bringing 415 students from across the region to WKU’s campus for the 27th year of Fall Super Saturdays.
The 2019 slate of classes kicks off on Saturday, November 2. Coordinated by The Center for Gifted Studies, the event offers minds-on, hands-on learning to high-interest, high-ability students in first through eighth grades.
With classes taking place on the first four Saturdays in November, Super Saturdays promotes students to continue learning while not in school. Children are encouraged to explore and pursue their passions outside the regular classroom while being in a fun and supportive environment with enthusiastic, like-minded peers.
Classes include opportunities to explore diverse areas of study such as chemistry, the visual and preforming arts, mathematics, and leadership.
Secret Formulas lets students test and recreate the chemical formulas to toothpaste, rock candy, and invisible ink. Film School offers attendees the chance to develop their own documentary films. Acting takes a step behind the curtain as students build props and scenery and preform a play. Computer Science Discoveries lets lovers of video games create their own characters and animations while learning the tools needed develop video games.
