Every year, there are lots of folklore conferences or conferences where folklore presenters are welcome.  These are great opportunities to meet fellow students and folklorists and even to present a paper or participate in a panel.

The department encourages you to go to as many as time and budget permits, but it is strongly recommended that you try to attend the American Folklore Society annual conference.  It is a wonderful learning and networking experience.  You will get to listen to and meet the people whose work you read while at WKU.  You can learn what makes a good paper and presentation which you can use if/when you apply to present your own work.

On the right there are links to websites about the most pertinent annual conferences.  The upcoming conference page has more information as well.  You may also want to check out the Student Papers page to see the abstracts of papers that students have given at recent conferences. Partial funding to attend conference is available through the department, Potter College Dean's Office, and Graduate Studies.  Start by filling the departmental travel application.
