WKU Band


WKU Bands Performance Tour/Study Aboard will focus on the study of Italian, Greek, Albanian, and Croatian art, architecture, culture, and history, through the performance of music from those countries.  The group (ensemble) will perform in Venice and three performances aboard the MSC Orchestra Cruise Ship.  Performance repertoire will include works by Italian, Greek, and Albanian composers such as Giovanni Gabrieli, Nikos Skalkottas, Palokë Kurti. and Bobic' Davor as well as those of American composers such as John Philip Sousa and Shelly Hanson.  Highlights will include guided tours to St. Marks Cathedral (Venice), The Basilica of San Nicola (Bari), Olympia, site of the first Olympic games (Katakolon, Greece), and the Parthenon (Athens, Greece). 


To participate on this program you must have previously or currently be a part of WKU Bands. Members of the community are also invited to apply. To travel as a community member, we recommend first reaching out to the program leader(s).
