Alumni Grant

Alumni Grant

Western Kentucky University offers a reduced tuition rate to any qualified, non-resident student whose parent, stepparent or grandparent holds an associate, baccalaureate, master’s, doctoral or specialist degree or has completed a certified program from the University.

Undergraduate Students

Non-resident beginning freshmen, with an ACT composite score of 20 (SAT total score of 1020) or higher and a high school GPA of at least 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale), qualify for a reduced tuition rate (equivalent to the Tuition Incentive Program rate).

Non-resident readmit students or students transferring from an accredited college or university, with a cumulative college GPA of 2.2 or higher and at least 24 credit hours completed, qualify for a reduced tuition rate (equivalent to the Tuition Incentive Program rate).

The Alumni Grant is applicable to non-resident students only.  Kentucky residents do not qualify for the Alumni Grant (the tuition charge for resident students is less than the Tuition Incentive Program rate received by Alumni Grant recipients).  The Alumni Grant is not applicable to students already qualifying for the Tuition Incentive Program rate based on county of residence.

Alumni Grant recipients are charged tuition at the Tuition Incentive Program rate; therefore the University Merit Non-Resident Targeted Scholarship does not apply.

Graduate Students

Non-resident graduate students admitted in good standing qualify for a reduced tuition rate (equivalent to the Graduate Resident rate).

How to Apply

  • Complete the Alumni Grant Application and return to the Office of Admissions (Undergraduate students) or Graduate School (Graduate students).
  • The University will confirm alumni status of the parent, step-parent or grandparent indicated on the application.
  • Once alumni status is confirmed, the student’s residency status will be changed accordingly and the student will be assessed tuition at the reduced tuition rate.

Questions regarding the Alumni Grant can be sent to scholarships@wku.edu.
