Valarie Phelps is a Bowling Green native. She is the Assistant Director with English as a Second Language International on WKU’s campus. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in English Literature at Western Kentucky University. She received her TESOL Certification from the TESOL International Association. Some of her other focuses are in Business Management and Art History.
She held the position of Board Member and Treasurer with the KY TESOL Board for 3 years. She is also the Academic Advisor for Coffee Talk, held each week at ESLI. She also volunteers her time to teach English to some WKU Employees in order to improve their lives and careers.
She began at ESLI as a Part-Time Instructor, then to Full-Time Instructor, to Teacher Leader, and now as Assistant Director.
When not saving the world from listless wordage she enjoys crocheting, knitting, Science Fiction, cooking, and watching off-beat comedies.
