The EMCC at WKU has developed an in-depth training program for first responders to equip them with the skills required to properly operate the iRobot Packbot 510. Online training modules provide an introduction to the robots operations followed by hands-on training sessions which put interested first responders behind the controls of the robot. Please contact the EMCC to schedule training.

The Packbot 510 robot is modular, adaptable and expandable. It can perform bomb disposal, surveillance and reconnaissance, CBRN detection and HazMat handling operations, making it a valuable asset to law enforcement and other first responders, PackBot is easily configured based on the need of the mission, and can easily climb stairs and navigate narrow passages with sure-footed efficiency, relaying real-time video, audio and sensor data. The operator can stay at a safe distance while operating the robot via a standard game controller.
