How Should I Prepare for My First Solar Eclipse?

Preparing for Your First Solar Eclipse

Expect a big crowd and prepare for it. There will be tens of thousands (or more)
all hoping to be in the same areas within the path of totality for the minutes of
the total solar eclipse. Do your best to arrive early and expect to have long delays
when you are trying to leave. This will be like getting to a huge sporting event, such
as the Super Bowl, with frustrating traffic, lack of parking, and overextended infrastructure.

Most people will be in the Sun for hours, awaiting the spectacular experience of those minutes of totality. There may be limited access to restroom facilities, food and water. Bring sunscreen, hats and other protection from the midday sun, drinks, snacks, and a folding chair and/or blankets.
