Michael Nichol's award winning work provides a "contemporary" access point for two rare and ancient media, buon fresco painting and silverpoint drawing. The frescoes on display are the result of Nichol's research and experiments to create portable and lightweight frescoes using an airbrush (spray paint) to make imagery. His interest in silverpoint began while working on a large-scale fresco mural at WKU. The physical and temporal demands of creating the mural required Nichols to rest a day between painting sessions. Nichols used these rest days to create silverpoints, which have thematic commonalities with the airbrushed buon frescoes.
Join us for a reception on October 14, 2016 from 5:00-9:00 during the Bowling Green Gallery Hop.
