Admission Requirements

The Western Kentucky University BSDH Online Program is for students who have previously graduated from a CODA accredited     dental hygiene program in the U.S. and hold a current license in dental hygiene.  First, students should apply for admission to Western Kentucky University.  During the application process you should request to have your official transcripts sent to WKU.  Completion of the following prerequisites including BIOL 131, BIOL 207/208, ENG 100, and PSY/PSYS 100 with a grade of "C" or higher is needed before program admission.  The minimum GPA required to apply to the program is 2.8 and a grade of "C" or higher in each prerequisite course is required.

We're glad you're considering the Western Kentucky University' s Program of Dental Hygiene's BSDH Degree Completion program. There are just a few steps to complete before entering the program.

Step 1

Please review the BSDH program checklist for required courses. 

Note: Students transferring into WKU from KCTCS for the degree completion program are required to complete a minimum of 30 upper division level hours to earn a WKU degree.

Step 2 Review Online Orientation information. Taking courses online only can be a unique, and sometime challenging experience.  You will need to visit the Distanced Learning 101 orientation to be sure this method of study is for you before continuing with your application.
Step 3 Apply to WKU!  Also review tuition information.
Step 4 Be sure all institutional transcripts are sent to the university.
Step 5 Review Frequently Asked Questions

Once you have completed the steps above and have confirmation of acceptance to WKU, then contact the Program of Dental Hygiene.  An advisor will be assigned to you, and will assist you in creating an individualized plan of study. Send request to dhonline@wku.edu.
