Leslie Watkins is the Senior Director of Planned Giving. In this role, she assists donors who wish to create charitable gift plans utilizing wills, trusts, and other planned giving vehicles and manages the Society of 1906, the WKU recognition society for individuals who include WKU in their estate plans. Prior to being named to this position, she served for seventeen years as Senior Director Development for Potter College of Arts & Letters and provided leadership and support as member of the development team that successfully completed WKU’s first comprehensive campaign, Investing in the Spirit, which raised $102 million, including professorships in history, music, and journalism; and in WKU’s second comprehensive campaign, A New Century of Spirit,( $202 million raised). She also completed a successful building campaign for the Adams – Whitaker Student Publications Building. In addition, Watkins has given presentations and worked with other non-profit organizations on fundraising, strategic planning, and board development.
Watkins earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in English from Western Kentucky University and is an adjunct faculty member in the WKU Department of English. She has served as President of the Bowling Green Junior Woman’s Club, the Head Start Policy Council, and The Symphony at WKU. She is a member of the Southern Kentucky Estate Planning Council, the Association of Arts & Sciences Advancement Professionals, and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
Member of WKU’s Society of 1906, Cupola Society, President’s Circle, and H.H. Cherry Society. Lifetime Member of the WKU Alumni Association and Founding Member of the WKU Sisterhood.
