Violence in the Workplace

Session Format:

One 4-Hour Session

Introduction 

Workplace violence is any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults. It can affect and involve employees, clients, customers and visitors. This workshop discusses all of these issues.

Objectives

The participant will learn to: (1) understand the most common causes of workplace violence, (2) conduct a thorough safety readiness assessment (3) implement prevention measures that make a difference, and (4) recognize warning signs and triggering events that may signal an individual is about to explode.

  • Causes and sources of Workplace violence
  • Prevention strategies (building and administrative controls)
  • Identifying and defusing potentially violent situations
