The 48 semester hour program leading to the MAE in School Counseling and the Kentucky provisional certificate for school counselors is listed below. This curriculum complies with 2009 standards prescribed by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

CNS 590 Practicum (prerequisites: CNS 550, CNS 554, CNS 558, and CNS 559)
CNS 595 Internship (6 hours - completed over two full semesters)
CNS 598 Research and Program Evaluation in Counseling
CNS 658 Seminar Guidance/Counseling

Comprehensive Examination

In order to graduate, all students must pass a final comprehensive examination. Comprehensive examinations are given in the spring and other semesters as needed. Students must meet the criteria established by the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences in order to be eligible to take the comprehensive examination.
