Graduate Assistantships

The department offers a number of graduate assistantships to current graduate students. These assistantships normally cover tuition and have a stipend with them. Work assignments include assisting with teaching, or participating in various research projects being carried on by faculty members of the CS and other departments.

Normally, assistantships are not awarded to students in their first semester of studies. All students may apply during their first semester for support during later semesters.

In recent years, the department has been able to support about 10 students each semester with teaching or research assistantships.

Applications for assistantships are made electronically directly to the graduate school. Normally applications are made at least two months before the beginning of the semester, and decisions are made and announced to successful candidates at least one month before the beginning of the semester.
