Course Description

COST: $225 ($15 per 2-hour session)

Taijiquan (often abbreviated as simply Taiji, pronounced “tie-chee”) is a traditional Chinese martial art practiced by millions of people all over the world as a form of gentle, low impact, stress-reducing exercise. Sometimes referred to as “moving meditation”, the practice of Taijiquan involves learning and repeating a series of slow, relaxed, stepping movements and postures designed to enhance balance, coordination and flexibility, and to reinforce the connections between the physical body and the deeper, internal processes of breath and emotional control. There are several traditional Taijiquan styles practiced widely today; this course will focus on what is known as the Yang Style 24 Posture Taiji Form (often referred to as the “short form”).
