Classes beginning at 4pm today on the WKU Bowling Green campus are canceled. ALL Thursday and Friday classes on all campuses are also canceled. Online classes will proceed as scheduled. WKU offices will be closed on Thursday, with essential personnel reporting.

WKU Owensboro closed at noon today (Wed., 3/4).

WKU Glasgow evening classes that begin at 5 pm today will be canceled and the WKU Glasgow campus will close at 7 pm.

WKU Elizabethtown-Fort Knox campus will close today at 3 pm and will remain closed Thurs., Fri, and Sat., March 5-7.

Who is eligible to participate in spring commencement?

Undergraduate degree candidates who have filed the Application for Graduation with the fee and have indicated an intent to complete degree requirements at the end of the spring semester and summer terms are eligible to participate in the spring commencement ceremony.

Where do I pick up my cap and gown and order graduation announcements, my class ring, and a diploma frame?

You may pick up a cap and gown during Grad Fair. During the fair, you also have the opportunity to order graduation announcements, the official WKU class ring, and a diploma frame. Is there a rehearsal for the ceremony?

There is no rehearsal for students. Marshals (guides) will lead students throughout the commencement ceremony.

Where should graduates and guests park for the ceremony?

Two parking structures are available, as well as all other parking lots around campus. Disability parking is located in front of Diddle Arena and is accessible from the Avenue of Champions.

Do my guests need tickets to attend commencement?

No, tickets are not necessary to attend commencement. Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.

How do I know if I am graduating with honors?

The honors status printed in the commencement program for undergraduate students is based upon the GPA at the end of the previous term, since grades for the current semester are not due until after the ceremony. Students receiving a baccalaureate degree are granted honors status based on the following criteria: Cum Laude (3.40-3.59), Magna Cum Laude (3.60-3.79), and Summa Cum Laude (3.80-4.00) with at least 45 hours earned in residence. Students receiving an associate degree are granted honors status based on the following criteria: With Distinction (3.4-3.69) and With High Distinction (3.7-4.0) with at least 27 hours in residence.
Graduation honors are only awarded at the undergraduate level. Graduate students are not awarded graduation honors.

On which side of my cap do I wear the tassel?

Undergraduate students should wear tassels on the right side of caps. Tassels will be moved to the left side during the ceremony. Because graduate students have already received a baccalaureate degree, they should wear tassels on the left side of caps throughout the ceremony.

I haven’t received any mailings about commencement. What should I do?

The first official mailing concerning commencement will be mailed in early March announcing the Grad Fair. Students who have not received information by mid-March should contact the Office of the Registrar at 270-745-3351. Graduate students should contact the Graduate Studies Office at 270-745-2446.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas will be mailed to spring graduates approximately 3-6 weeks after the ceremony to the diploma address submitted on the Application for Graduation.

What if my name or address has changed since submitting my Application for Graduation?

Contact the Office of the Registrar at 270-745-3351.

Where do I store personal belongings during commencement?

Please do not bring personal belongings to commencement. If you must bring personal belongings, they must be carried with you or stored in the Auxiliary Gym for the duration of the ceremony. The gym doors will be locked and are not accessible until the ceremony is finished.

Will pictures be taken at commencement? Will it be recorded?

GradTrak Graduation Images will take pictures to capture the moment you shake hands with WKU’s President, and DVDs of the ceremony will be available for purchase through WKYU-PBS. Additional information will be distributed at Grad Fair and at commencement. Guests may use cameras during the ceremony; however, for safety concerns and courtesy of others, they will not be permitted on the arena floor to take pictures.

What if my guests or I need disability seating/assistance?

Contact the Office of Student Disability Services at 270-745-5004 at least two weeks prior to commencement to identify your needs for assistance.
