CIT First-Time Registration

Before you can register for classes, you must be admitted to WKU. To do that, see https://acsapps.wku.edu/pls/prod/twbkwbis.P_GenMenu?name=wkumenu.P_AdmUnsecMnu. Click on Domestic and International. Follow the instructions.

When you complete the admission process you will be admitted to CIT if you declare CIT as your major.

Once admitted, you should use Topnet to register for courses. To do that, see https://www.wku.edu/online/registration.php.

In order to decide what classes to take, first, make sure you check your iCAP report; it tells you exactly what courses you need to graduate. You can find it on Topnet.

If you are a 2+2 transfer student:

  • Take any CIT courses you need to satisfy your particular requirements. For example, take the core courses and any 400-level electives whenever they are offered (if you have the prerequisites). If you cannot find enough CIT courses to provide your desired hours, take needed general education (Colonnade) courses as fillers if you need them.

If you are a traditional (non 2+2) student:

  • If you have 45 or more hours of general education (Colonnade) courses, you need to take the foundation courses and any 400-level electives whenever they are offered. If you can find a few that also interest you, that is even better! If you have less than 45 hours of general education courses, then you need to take general education courses as recommended by iCAP.

Also, please know that you may be able to take/use general education courses/credits (face-to-face and online) at other schools and have the credit transfer to WKU.
