The Recreation Administration Program in the College of Health and Human Services' School of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport received accreditation continuation following a routine visit by the Council on Accreditation of Parks, Recreation, Tourism and Related Professions (COAPRT) in September.
The Recreation Administration Program at WKU was first accredited in 1980 and was among the first 16 programs in the country to be nationally accredited. Since its creation, the program has successfully maintained accreditation status, which is reviewed every five years.
The WKU Recreation Administration Program started in 1967 and will celebrate 50 years in 2017. The program offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Recreation Administration, a minor in Community Recreation, a minor in Outdoor Leadership, and two interdisciplinary minors in Tourism and Nonprofit Administration. The program also offers a Master of Science degree in Recreation and Sport Administration with on-campus and online options.
