Dr. Bolton studies individual entrepreneurial orientation, and gender in entrepreneurship and in leadership, for the region and internationally. Her current research compares women entrepreneurs in three countries as part of a FIPSE grant (The Alliance to Enhance Entrepreneurial Impact to Stimulate Economic Growth among Underserved Groups in North America). She has published in several journals and made presentations at International conferences. She teaches in the areas of decision modeling, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Dawn Langkamp Bolton earned her Doctor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University with a major in Marketing and minors in Management and Statistics. Dr. Bolton has been with Western Kentucky University (WKU) since 1991 where she first began teaching in the Marketing Department of the College of Business. Since that time, Dr. Bolton has been the Chair of the Business Division of WKU’s Bowling Green Community College, the Marketing Director of WKU’s Division of Extended Learning and Outreach (DELO), Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs – Program Development and Academic Relations, and most recently appointed to the Management Department in the Gordon Ford College of Business. She was one of the first people in her area to teach an ITV/IVS class, a Freshman Seminar/University Experience class and an on-line class. While Assistant Vice President, Dr. Bolton was instrumental in the development of many WKU programs ranging from Sports Management to the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Dawn received the 2003 WKU University Award for Teaching and the 2003 KYVU On-line Excellence Award for Teaching (a state-wide award).
