Addiction & Trauma: Examining the Brain/Body Connection & Effective Therapeutic Approaches
This workshop will introduce information on addictions and trauma, how they are related, their origins and effective modalities of treatment with the following objectives:
- Participants will learn how our latent survival behaviors of fight, flight, and freeze condition the brain to seek pleasure and avoid pain. *Recent neuroscientific research on the nature of addictions and trauma.
- Participants will understand the neuro-adaptive survival strategies involved in substance and process addictions; as well as how How patterns of emotional repression modeled by adults in childhood contribute to increased chances of developing an addiction.
