Job Shadow Sites
Please select three job shadow sites from the list below that you would want to visit for your job shadow day over winter break. You will be matched with ONE of your three choices.
Deaconess Hospital - We would accept a nursing student that would like to shadow on a Deaconess nursing unit for the day. We would prefer they shadow on day shift. 4, 8, or 12 hour shift.
St. Vincent Evansville - Students would be able to follow a bedside nurse and learn about their daily routines with their assessment, medication administration, patient care, relationships with other disciplines, time management skills, and prioritization.
AstraZeneca - We would provide a site tour for the individual. Tour would include formulation, packing, warehouse, Quality Control and supply chain.
Bluegrass Oral Health Center, PLLC - Students will be able to see aspects of Dentistry. We are a general dental practice with five dentists. Our doctors do all types of dental procedures ie: Restorative, Oral Surgery, Endo, Implants, Crown and Bridge, Sleep Apnea, TMD Disorder, Oral and IV sedation. We have 3D and 2D xrays. Each doctor likes different procedures so we are able to offer our patients anything they may need.
Bowling Green Municipal Utilities - Activities may include: participation in capital budgeting, engineering design, and construction informational or decision meetings; visiting construction project locations to assess project status; cost / benefit analysis or replacement studies; observing typical administrative activities.
Counseling & Testing Center - We can offer an informational interview opportunity about the day-to-day operations of a university counseling & testing center. We offer both personal counseling and academic testing services in our office. Although, due to confidentiality, students could not observe an actual counseling sessions, they can meet with the Director to discuss the administrative functions of the CTC and a clinician to discuss their work in the Center.
Federal Bureau of Investigation - Tour of the office and courthouse if the student is interested; the experience will likely be more of a meet and greet than a shadow due to liability and security clearance requirements.
Fruit of The Loom - General Human Resources policies and procedures, HR Structure and business support, Talent Acquisition process and interviewing 101.
Henkel / Sun Products Corporation - We are a large manufacturing operation in the Bowling Green area with onsite manufacturing engineers. We would love the opportunity to enable students to job shadow with our Manufacturing Engineers. Follow behind Manufacturing Engineers in the job role. Experience problem solving, running controlled experiments, daily interaction meetings with operations and other functional areas, troubleshooting. They will have the opportunity to see our operations in action and see how the Mfg Engineering roles interact with those areas of the plant. We have 30+ production lines with multiple operations.
Kentucky Museum - What has been most beneficial from my experience participating in this type of shadow program as the Director of the Kentucky Museum and Kentucky Folklife Program has been to talk to the students about their aspirations and share my multi-faceted job experience that have led me to my current position. To give the most well-rounded experience, we would like to include time with other faculty members at the museum (including, as available, our registrar, exhibits preparator, and education director). Shadow experiences have been coordinated for a half-day or a full-day based on the needs of the students.
Lee Company - Hvac service repair calls primarily in the Industrial / Commercial environment.
LORD Corporation - Students can job shadow various employees through a good part of the day to get a feel what a particular job is like. We have having the following number of students in each category: (1) accounting, (1) HR, (3) Engineering, (2) Operations and (1)Safety.
UK Cooperative Extension Service- Warren County - This student will be shadowing a 4-H Agent. The work entails working with youth from 5-18 years old. Each day is different. Some days are spend in the school doing school enrichment programming, other days include planning for programs or after school programming. If a student is interested in Cooperative Extension-- educating youth in a non-profit sector, this might be a good fit for them.
Morgan Smith Industries - We will give a tour of our facility that will show in depth the many custom projects we are working on at that time. The project Manager will take them through the general day and what things they have to face such as problems, questions and who they interact with. Will review in depth what we offer to our customers and how we fit into the construction industry. We will show past, present, future project details and how we manage our projects. Would like to discuss what the student is currently learning in school so we can review how it can pertain to everyday life in the construction world.
Nemak USA, Inc. - Nemak produces aluminum components for the automotive industry. We will provide the student with a tour of our high pressure diecasting plant and our machining operations. We will have them spend time with several members of our Engineering team. Controls Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Lean Manufacturing Engineer, Facilities Engineer and Sr. Engineer. The Engineers will show them some of the projects that they are working on.

We would like the student to see the responsibilities of the nurse as a patient safety advocate which is essential in each phase of surgery. Documentation and legal responsibilities will be covered, as well as, care plan duties. The student will see the technical aspects of the circulator, (assisting with intubation, foley catheter placement, care of drains and tubes, dressing care and IV skills. We hope this will be a positive surgical rotation experience and further push students into considering this specialty area.
