There are many costs associated with graduate school that come in the form of tuition and fees associated with the application process. Each program's tuition fees will vary, so it's important that you research the actual costs of the programs and schools you are applying to and explore all of your financial aid options.  To help with this process, the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) has outlined some common costs and lists some basic resources.  Please call our office at (270)-745-3095 or email us at CareerHelp@wku.edu if you need additional assistance.

Application

The following is a list of common fees associated with the application process:

  • Application fees can range from $20-$100 per school.  This can become very costly when applying to more than one school.
  • Exam fees are fees that you must pay to take entrance exams.  For example, the GRE costs $140.00 and the GMAT costs $250.00.  You may also have to pay to have your test scores sent to schools because most exams limit the number of schools to which you may forward your scores without paying additional fees.
  • Transcript requests at WKU cost $4.00 for faxed or mailed requests and $6.00 for a transcript requested in person.

Financial Assistance

The CCPD cannot estimate tuition fees for graduate programs because there is such a large variation, but we recommend researching funding options to help cover some of the cost.  Consider applying for assistantships, try to find an employer willing to cover a portion of the cost, and don't forget to fill out your FAFSA.  You can find some information on financial aid for graduate and professional students here:
