Greenwell Award Guidelines

For recognition at the annual GFCB awards banquet

The Greenwell Award recognizes and honors support staff in the Gordon Ford College who demonstrate commitment, continuing improvement, highly productive contributions, and outstanding support to the education of business students, graduates, alumni and external constituents. A $500 cash award is granted to the recipient. In addition to the monetary award, recipients receive an engraved memento and will have their name inscribed upon a permanent display housed in the Gordon Ford College of Business.

Applications and Nominations:

Full time support staff in the Gordon Ford College of Business are eligible for the Greenwell Award. (Office associates, coordinators, academic advisors, MBA Director, Technology Support Coordinator or other program support personnel) Individuals may apply or be nominated by colleagues, faculty, co‐chairs, or administrators in the Ford College. The letter of nomination or application must include a statement of reasons and communicate the positive impact which the nominee/applicant has provided to the unit. This statement can explain contributions to support effective student service; office efficiency; support for faculty teaching, research or service; implementation of college programs; or taking actions to solve problems or provide leadership to peers.

Applications and nominations must be submitted to the Office of the Dean by March 15. The Ford College Dean will convene a review panel to make recommendations for the awards.

Criteria, Recommendation and Presentation of Award:

General criteria considered in reviewing applications includes:

  • effectiveness in undertaking and completing assigned tasks;
  • contributions to students, faculty and administrators as demonstrated through the individual’s efforts and effectiveness;
  • quality of service provided;
  • positive impact upon Gordon Ford College programs and activities;
  • a staff member must have been in their position for a minimum of two years to be eligible for this award;
  • award recipients will not be eligible for the award for two years following their selection.

A review panel will be established to evaluate and make the award recommendation. Members of the judging panel will include a member of the Ford College Administrative Council, a faculty member, a support staff member external to the Ford College and a member from the Business Executive Advisory Council. Presentation of the award will be at the annual Ford College awards ceremony.
