Bonny Petty joined the Institute for Rural Health (IRH) in August 2002. She is a graduate of the Dental Hygiene program at WKU and worked in private practice before accepting the role of Supervising Dental Hygienist for the IRH. Her duties include coordinating the dental programs, managing and maintaining the dental database and contributing in the search for external funding including grants.

Bonny has been very active in professional societies. She is currently a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the Kentucky Dental Hygiene Association, where she has served as both treasurer and trustee. Bonny also is a member of the National Rural Health Association and the Kentucky Rural Health Association and has presented at conferences at both the state and national levels. Additionally, Bonny is a member of the Mobile Health Clinic Network and the Kentucky Public Health Association.

In her spare time Bonny loves to be in the kitchen, and people love for her to be there. She is an excellent cook, always ready to try a new and/or exotic recipe, but specializes in baking delicious cookies. In the spring and summer Bonny is rarely absent from her garden, as she has the greenest of thumbs and always has a wonderful array of beautiful plants in her gardens and flower beds.
