Gero 100: Intro to the Aging Experience
Kimberly Stoeckel holds a PhD in Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts – Boston (2011), a Master of Science in Gerontological Services from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia (2004), and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Houghton College, New York (1999).
Her expertise in gerontology includes both academic research and clinical social work. Her entry into the gerontology field was in social work at a continuing care retirement community in Pennsylvania. This clinical work familiarized her with the many facets of the aging network as well as the various personal challenges experienced by aging persons and their family members. Her academic experience, following the completion of her doctoral studies, included a post doctorate research position at The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. She has numerous publications based on her research about social networks and well-being in later life based on the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).
