The Gathering

Businesses and organizations in Bowling Green and Warren County, Kentucky are invited to attend "The Gathering." This event offers an opportunity to network and inform other leaders in the community about your organization and any initiatives taken (large or small) to become more age-friendly. All businesses or organizations that work with older adults in any capacity are encouraged to attend, including retail, banking, fitness, city and county programs, transportation, etc. Registration is FREE, but spots are limited. Please RSVP to Marybeth Hunt at marybeth.hunt@wku.edu. The Gathering will be on August 12th from 8am-11:30am at Augenstein Alumni Center. View the informational flyer here for more information.   In addition, the 2014 Age-friendly Awareness Business Award will also be presented at the meeting. All businesses, organizations, and groups that have taken any action to become more age friendly are eligible. Nominations are due by noon August 5th and can be submitted by email to marybeth.hunt@wku.edu . Nomination forms are available here.  This event is part of Age-Friendly Bowling Green, a hands-on community initiative using the World Health Organization's framework for assessing the age friendliness of Bowling Green.

  • Location: 1st Floor Conference Room @ Barren River District Health Department
  • Time: 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Mission: To increase the health & safety for senior adults within the Barren River District.

Vision: Creating the safest and most friendly community for seniors.

As  member of the Barren River Healthy & Safe Aging Coalition you will help us increase our networking capabilities, establish collaboration, provide resources, and foster community support.  Members are not asked to provide certain duties, but rather make suggestions and volunteer resources to improve the developments and outreach of the coalition.
