The purpose of C.O.R.E. (Companions of Respected Elders) is to provide an opportunity for students at WKU to deeply affect the lives of seniors in the Bowling Green area. The student will do this by offering companionship, hope, and a chance to positively impact the life of another person. Students have the opportunity for one-on-one partnerships with residents at nursing home facilities, in addition to monthly visits to Rosewood Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. The KSPAN meeting date in March has been changed. Please take a moment to mark your calendar for Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This will be our first quarterly KSPAN meeting for 2014. The KSPAN Executive Committee meeting will be held on March 11, 2014 from 9:00am to 10:00am. This is an open meeting and all are welcomed to attend!
The meeting location will be the training room at Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) 400 Englewood Drive Frankfort, KY 40601. Please click on the LINK and register if you plan to attend. Lunches are provided free and by registering it allows us to know how many lunches to order. Please be sure to go to the end of Englewood Drive and follow the signs to park in the Training Parking Area. You will enter through the basement to access the training facility.

WKU Mobile Health and Wellness Unit will be providing free health screenings at Warren Co. Senior Center. For more information, call 270 -745-6948 or the Senior Center at 270-783-4484.
This educational event is available to family and friend caregivers, bringing together experts in the field of aging and dementia to discuss various issues such as legal and financial concerns, research updates, medication and other topics of interest to caregivers.
*Topics for this date include: Legal/Financial Workshop (conducted by an elder law attorney) for anyone who would like to know more about what legal and financial issues to consider and how to put plans in place. Also, Communicating and Relating with Persons with Dementia will also be presented and will discuss the behavioral changes experienced by persons with Alzheimer's or other dementias and how caregivers can deal with these changes, exploring ways to connect with and care for their loved one.
