Alex Fahnders is the fourth floor male Residential Counselor for the 2017-2018 academic year. Alex is from Central Illinois, Springfield, IL, and first heard about WKU through the basketball program and March Madness run after Ty Rodgers "The Shot" in 2008.
While at WKU, Alex was an active member of campus. A Resident Assistant from 2010 to 2012, Alex was the RA's Choice and Hall of the year for the 2010 school year. Alex was also an active member in Greek Life, was a WKU Spirit Master (an organization that he was both the Chair of and was Spirit Master of the Year in 2012-2013), and was WKU's Coming Home King in 2013.
Before graduation, Alex worked in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs as an intern in the Suites and Hospitality Department and as an athletic coach to DII University of Springfield Head Baseball Coach Chris Ramirez. Alex graduated from WKU in 2013 with a major in Sport Managment and a minor in Athletic Coaching.
Alex looks forward to working with Gatton Academy students and wants to do everything he can to help them develop as students and better themselves as people through life experiences. During his time as a Residential Counselor, Alex plans on continuing his pursuit of a Masters Degree in Student Affairs. I hope to serve in any capacity to help these students grow and find which path for their future will suit their skill set best.
In his free time, Alex likes to pretend he is a professional baseball scout, watch sports (Cardinals, Dolphins, San Jose Sharks, and WKU Tops) and The Office on television, enjoy a meal with friends, and listen to Dave Matthews Band.
