Alex Sorrels is the Alumni Relations and Recruitment Coordinator for The Gatton Academy, a position he assumed in July 2017. A graduate of Spencer County High School, Alex attended Western Kentucky University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Broadcasting. While at WKU, Alex was a Resident Assistant at Minton Hall. He also served as the Captain and President of the WKU Dodgeball Team and was selected as an NCDA (National College Dodgeball Association) All-Star twice. After graduating from WKU in 2015, Alex began working as a Residential Counselor at The Gatton Academy where he served for 2 years.
As the liaison for The Gatton Academy's alumni, Alex plans events and stays in touch with The Gatton Academy’s 10(!) alumni classes. Alex also travels all over the state recruiting the next generation of aspiring scientists and mathematicians for The Gatton Academy.
In his spare time Alex likes to spend time with his friends and family, play video games, and stay up to date on all things space related. He also, along with his girlfriend McKenzie, has a 10 year old Jack Russell terrier named Johnny Karate who enjoys tearing up plush toys and stealing human food off unattended plates. Alex is a fan of The Minnesota Vikings, The Seattle SuperSonics(RIP), Sheffield Wednesday FC, and the San Jose Sharks. He hopes to one day travel to Mars as a colonist.
