We seek corporate citizens to host a Gatton Academy student intern.
Consider building your HR pipeline by hosting a Gatton Academy summer intern. The Gatton Academy seeks Kentucky organizations who are interested in a tax-deductible, private-public partnership with our program by providing a project-based summer internship to a Gatton Academy student. The sponsorship rate is $3,000/per student, 100% of which goes to the student to pay for a 1-credit hour internship class and to pay for their housing, transportation, and personal expenses during their eight-week internship.
No sponsorship or commitment is required until you find the ideal intern.
Internships can be in any discipline, in any field, and can take many forms.
Requirements are simple:
- Partners provide an eight-week, full-time internship to a Gatton student;
- Student must have a consistent mentor-supervisor to seek guidance;
- Students work on a specific project with an outcome as the goal; and
- The mentor- supervisor assesses the student at summer’s end.
How does it work?
January 15 - Your organization creates an internship description outlining a student summer project that will best serve your company. A one-page-max description outlining the project, your ideal candidate, and the skills they must possess are provided to The Gatton Academy.
February 15 - Over the past month, The Gatton Academy advertised your internship to our students, found potential matches, and students wrote their applications to you. Resumes and cover letters are delivered to your organization from The Gatton Academy students who are applying to your internship.
March 15 - You’ve had a chance to review applicants, interview top choices, and decide if your company will sponsor a Gatton Academy intern this summer. Your decision is due to The Gatton Academy.
April 15 - If you’ve chosen to sponsor a summer intern, your $3,000 tax-deductible contribution is due to The Gatton Academy. Every dollar of your contribution goes to your intern to pay for a 1-credit hour internship class and to pay for their housing, transportation, and personal expenses during their eight-week internship.
May 15 - School is out for the summer! The Gatton Academy has provided general workplace training for all summer interns. Your company and your sponsored intern can arrange the eight-weeks that work best for you—starting today if you wish!
August 15 - Your final assessment of the student is due.
