EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
We are always looking for positive, enthusiastic people who want to share
their devotion to a
healthy lifestyle with others!! Rec. fitness hires various
personnel to fill the positions of fitness instructor, teaching assistant, and
personal trainer. All positions require current CPR and first aid
certifications. WKU students who wish to be considered for employment must
complete student financial aid forms on campus and be approved for either work/
study or institutional funding. Non-student candidates should submit a resume to
the Fitness Coordinator in care of the Intramural department.
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and teaching the 30 and
60 minute fitness classes held in the dance studio and /or pool. Specific format
guidelines must be met, equipment suggestions are provided and in-service
training once every six weeks is part of the job commitment. Pay level increases
if the instructor holds a nationally recognized fitness certification. This
position requires a written application and interview and audition with the
Fitness Coordinator.
The Teaching Assistant is the right-hand man in charge of the dance studio and pool Rec. fitness classes. They assist the instructor with music selection, volume & pitch, equipment setup, greeting newcomers, answering questions, checking registration cards, and assisting with any problems or emergencies. Often these teaching assistants gain valuable experience and move into the fitness instructor position after a few semesters, if they wish. A written application and interview with the Fitness Coordinator are required.
