entomology

By the middle of Bryan Beirne's career he was an international leader in the field of pest management science. Initially trained as a zoologist with a firm background in insect taxonomy, he later became involved in insect ecology and agricultural ecology studies. He was an early advocate of biological control methods. Beirne additionally had many successes as a teacher and administrator to his credit, did consulting work, and published fifteen monographs and more than one hundred fifty technical papers.
