Professional interests

My favorite aspect of psychology has always been physiological psychology, which deals with the biological processes involved in behavior.  I am particularly interested in the ways that our experiences change our brain, brain mechanisms of reinforcement and drug abuse, and the biological underpinnings of personality.

I am also very interested in pedagogy; that is, the art of teaching.  I enjoy trying to make my classes the best learning experiences I can for students. Some of my teaching goals are to engage students in active learning, to improve their critical thinking and communication skills, and to give them an appreciation for the subject matter.  My favorite courses that I have taught include Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Physiological Psychology, Personality Theories, and History of Psychology.
