- Dr. Ronald Eckard received his B.A. from Lenoir-Rhyne College, his M.A. from Appalachian State University, and his
   Ph.D.from Ball State University. His academic specialties include teaching English as a second language (ESL and TESL).

- He teaches the graduate courses English 469 (Introduction to Teaching English as a Second Language -- TESL) and English
  470 (TESL Methods and Materials) 302 (Language and Communication), as well as English 304 (English Language ) at the undergraduate level.

- His research interests are methods for teaching English as a second or foreign language, language variation,
   and world Englishes.
