Directions for Assignments
1. All assignments should be typed on a word processor, not a typewriter.
2. All assignments except the bibliography should be double spaced.
3. If an assignment has more than one page, the pages should be numbered.

Extra Class Time
It will possibly be necessary to have some double class periods near the end of the semester in order to permit all students to present their thesis proposals.  The alternative would force some students to present their proposals quite early in the semester, before they had had adequate time to prepare.

Grading
Because many papers will be edited in class, papers are due by 9:00 a.m. on the day class meets.  They should be placed in the instructor's mailbox by 9:00.  At 9:30 some papers will be selected for duplicating so they they may be edited in class.  Papers turned in late will be graded one step down (e.g., from B to B-).  An additional step down will be assessed for each day late.  Papers will not be accepted more than one week late.
Papers will usually be returned in your mailboxes after class editing has been done.  The date of return will be noted on the paper.  A paper may be rewritten one time, for a potential grade change, within two weeks from the date of return.  For the first six papers the rewrite grade, minus points lost for lateness on the original paper, will be used.  After that the grade on the first paper will be averaged with the grade on the second paper to determine your grade for that paper.  However, points lost through lateness apply to the rewrite as well.  No paper may be turned in, not even as a rewrite, after the last day of class.

Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities who require accommodations (academic adjustments and/or auxiliary aids or services) for this course must contact the office for Student Disability Services, Room 101, Garrett Conference Center.  The OFSDS telephone number is (270) 745-5004 V/TDD.  Please do not request accommodations directly from the professor without a letter of accommodation from the Office for Student Disability Services.
