Pre-Pharmacy Requirements for Kentucky The following lists the required courses taken at Western for the Pre-Pharmacy curriculum. This course sequence satisfies the requirements to gain entrance into the University of Kentucky Pharmacy Program. As shown, the curriculum requires the completion of ~70 semester hours of course-work. The curriculum can be completed in the four semesters as outlined, however the average time spent completing these requirements is 6 semesters. Upon admittance into Pharmacy School, the Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree is completed in four years. Freshman Year |

It should be noted that there are a number of pharmacy schools in the U.S. and that the pre-pharmacy requirements of each one may be different. Most pharmacy schools have the same requirements as the University of Kentucky except that different electives are recommended. Because of the variations in requirements, the pre-pharmacy student should determine the requirements for the pharmacy school he/she would like to attend. This should be done before start of the sophomore year. Most Colleges of Pharmacy require prospective students to take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT). The PCAT is normally given three times a year. You should consult your advisor for information on PCAT testing and application procedures for Pharmacy School. |
