Fall 2008 Classes: Go to Blackboard
to get information for these classes.
Dr. Strow was born in
Ottawa,
Illinois on September 15, 1974. As a young paper boy, Brian found
that it was good to make money. Then, as a junior high loan
shark,
Brian found that it takes money to make money. Unfortunately, his
market capitalization was very low. As a highschool farm hand,
Brian
learned that he didn't want to have to work that hard when he
grew
up. So, Brian went on to Wheaton College (IL). Still avoiding
real
work, he then went to graduate school at Vanderbilt University where he
earned his Ph.D.in economics.
Finally, (and about time according to his
grandmother)
Dr. Strow took a position at Western Kentucky University where he has
been
teaching since the fall of 1999. On December 16, 2000 he married
well above his position in life by marrying Ms. Claudia Wood (now Dr.
Claudia
Strow who also teaches in Western's Economics Department).
Together the Drs. Strow gave birth to Tucker Strow
on December 17, 2002. Well, ok, only one Dr. Strow actually gave
birth, but the other one was there for emotional support. They
found that they liked Tucker so much that they gave birth to Colette
Strow on March 7, 2005. They might have had her sooner
had they known what a great baby she was going to be. Working on
the assumption that future children would be as easy to raise as
Colette, they gave birth to Oliver Strow on February 6, 2007.
Believing that it has got to be impossible to improve upon Oliver, the
Drs. Strow are probably done with the baby thing.
As is turns out, Brian concluded that there was too much
politics in academia so he attempted to escape politics by running for
public office. He now serves as one of four city commissioners in
Bowling Green. Now if his students don't study, Dr. Strow can
threaten to raise their taxes. (A hollow threat since he actually
lowered them).
In his classes Dr. Strow mixes a healthy dose of
very bad jokes with an occasional dash of economic wisdom. Well,
at least he tries to do the latter.
