Where I’m From
(Inspired by a poem by George Ella Lyons)I’m from the smell of tobacco
In the field through the summer months
And in the barn until the winter
From the country air
And where people sometimes
Just don’t really care.I am from farms
And country accents,
Mashed potatoes and
Fresh-brewed tea
That’s just the first all about me.Where we hunt and fish and
Stay outdoors and a place
Where we never have a dull moment.
I am from Richardsville
A very small place in Bowling Green, Kentucky.I am from McGonigals and Davenports
And all different sorts
I am from annoying little cousins
And great aunts and uncles
I am from Larry and Pam
Which I share with Wesley and Megan
Which can be aggravating,
But from lots of love that comes from them all.
