Black Today is Halloween and I like black.
Shirts, pants and sweaters to wear,
Blackberries to eat;
Black hawks to watch;
The obsidian eyes of the crows are watching
The black sheep grazing.
Ebony cats are walking along the walls,
Stepping around the black widow spiders.
Black Hawk helicopters are overhead
Watching the charcoal smoke
Rising from the darkening forest.
The black bears are playing
With the onyx swans at the river.
The coal black birds are flying
Over the black-eyed Susans
And landing in the Black Gum trees.
The pitch black night sky is wrapping
Its jet black arms around me
As I walk along the blacktop road.
