I am from . . .I am from Johnson’s and Barbie cars that drive across gravel roadways.
I am from snowmen that are made by empty flowerpots.
I am from clean your rooms and your grounded.
I am from bitten jagged fingernails that are partially painted.
I am from trees that tower above and soft grass below to catch you.
I am from yard sales on Saturday and Church on Sunday.
I am from granny’s bed filled with crumbs from midnight snacks.
From fights with bubba every single day and tucking him in at night.
I’m from “Little Lily Little Lily with freckles on your chin.”
From burnt chocolate chip cookies and giant cherry pies.
I am from momma always sleeping
From a dad that is no more.
I’m from late night talkshows
and dinner with the T.V.
From bacon and egg biscuits from the drive thru at McDonald’s
From siblings that never let you have a private moment.
I am from “Do those dishes” and quiet lullabies.
I’m from Leener and “Over yonders”
I may travel many foreign roads
But really I’m from Good ole Kentucky.
