National Contest Winners!

There were nearly 35,000 entries nationwide. On August 15th you'll be able to read the winning stories plus 100 additional local winning stories at the Reading Rainbow PBS kids' website. Also, one of our local winners, Chapel Faye Tinius was selected to have her work featured on the national website.

The Reading Rainbow’s Annual Young Writers & Illustrators Contest had another tremendous year thanks to all of the 35,000 K-3rd graders who created & submitted original stories. The following 15th Annual Contest winning stories will be posted on pbskids.org/readingrainbow in early August as will 95+ additional 15th Contest stories -- including one local first place winner from each participating station.

The 15th annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators contest winners was announced at the conclusion of the Southern Kentucky Festival of Books on Saturday, April 18th,  2009 at 3pm.  (see timeline for details).

Below you’ll find a contest timeline, contest rules, and entry forms - (duplicate as needed). The deadline for entry was March 31st.  Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the Southern Kentucky Festival of Books on Saturday, April 18th,  2009 at 3pm.

Maybe you’re new to the contest or mayble you’re one of the dedicated participants who make it an annual tradition.  We’re excited to have you participate in this annual contest that opens childrens minds to the joy of reading and writing.

Youngsters got a kick-start by attending a writing workshop held Friday, February 6th at Barnes & Noble booksellers in Bowling Green. Very Special Arts Kentucky Director Ginny Miller shared some tips on writing and illustrating a
