WKYU-PBS has been honored with two Emmy Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Ohio Valley Chapter. The ceremony was held in Lexington Saturday night.  The documentary, "Joe Downing: Poet of Color and Light" won in the Nostalgia Program category (Barbara Deeb, Jerry Baker, Stephen Kertis and David Brinkley) and David Brinkley won for Lighting in the craft category.

WKYU-PBS was nominated in four categories altogether, including nominations for the magazine program, MainStreet, and for audio work on the special musical program, “An Evening with Sylvia Kersenbaum”. WKYU-PBS is the only television station in Bowling Green to receive nominations or awards.

Large television markets like Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Charleston WV, and Lexington were well represented with entries, along with 13 other television markets.  From 588 individual entries from four states, 231 were honored with nominations. Unlike other awards, there can be categories with nominations but no winners.  This makes the Emmy awards unique.
