WESTERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY EDUCATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS
DEVELOPMENT OFFICER PUBLIC BROADCASTING
Western Kentucky University, Educational Telecommunications – Public Broadcasting, is seeking applicants for a Development Officer Public Broadcasting. This position will solicit corporate support and manage corporate account relationships for Western Kentucky University Public Radio and WKYU-PBS. The position reports to the Director of Development. This is a grant funded position and continued employment is subject to availability of funds.
Responsibilities: · Meets revenue goals for WKU Public Radio and WKYU Public Television programs and events through direct contacts with key senior decision makers in corporations, advertising agencies, businesses and non-profits. · Emphasis on customer satisfaction and retention. · Serves as development associate for corporate support activities for a CPB-qualified, NPR-member public radio station, PBS affiliated public television station. · Prospects and solicits contributions from businesses and organizations to include making presentations to advertising agencies on a local and regional level. · Develops, initiates and pursues community relations activities that effectively position and promote WKU Public Media programs and services to the community. · Other duties as deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s Degree or four years equivalent work related experience. · Experience in dealing with business, corporations, and agencies on a professional level. · Highly self-motivated · Knowledge of and enthusiastic commitment to the goals of public broadcasting is essential. · Experience with computers to include database, word processing and email is critical. · Willingness to travel within the service area with access to an automobile · Excellent written and oral presentation skills. · Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications: · 3 -5 years sales experience preferably in a service sector business or broadcasting/media sales category. · Successful track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals. · Knowledge of advertising and marketing department and agency functions, services hierarchy and trends. · Proven track record of successful sales working with key decision makers. · Knowledge of audience demographics or market analysis.
Salary Grade: 108 Expected Salary Range: $32,712.00 - $43,824.00 annually
