A Winter Term committee, appointed by Provost Barbara Burch, was charged with creating an implementation plan and preparing WKU faculty, staff and students for the first WKU Winter Term that was held in 2006. Winter Term classes were held again in 2007 and enrollment for the first two terms has exceeded all expectations.

For students, the WKU Winter Term is a great way to get more out of Winter break. Taking classes during the Winter Term helps avoid the need to overload their class schedule during spring and fall and helps students reach their intended graduation date. Winter Term gives unique opportunities to get more out of their education and reach their goals.

Students move toward graduation in a timelier manner than the traditional two-semester system by taking classes during the WKU Winter Term. The Winter Term gives students additional opportunities to take classes that are typically difficult to get into or crowded prerequisites to prepare for Spring. Other advantages are:

  • Better parking
  • Catch up on courses you have dropped or missed
  • Students can still enjoy the holidays with friends and family

Winter Term courses are offered on the main campus as well as the regional campuses in Glasgow, Elizabethtown/Ft Knox and Owensboro. Get more out of winter with the WKU Winter Term. It’s the cool place to be this Winter!
