The Veterans Upward Bound Scholarship is announced annually each spring and awarded each fall semester to a student who has completed the VUB program at Western Kentucky University and who is pursuing a degree at ANY postsecondary school.  This scholarship is funded by community donations, especially from the generous donations by local American Legion Post #23 and VFW Post #1298.

The deadline for application is the first business day of April.

Application information for the annual VUB Scholarship can either be obtained from the 
VUB office or by downloading the application packet (in .PDF format).

Help a deserving veteran pay for school

Because of federal regulations, Veterans Upward Bound cannot use our grant money to pay for scholarships, so we instead collect money from individuals and groups who help us develop a scholarship fund outside our regular Department of Education grant budget.

Veterans Upward Bound will be very happy to accept donations to our scholarship fund.    Your donation will be placed in the account to add to the total amount of money that draws interest.  As the account grows, we can give more people money and in larger amounts.

This money is used to help veterans who attend postsecondary school to pay their bills.  Veterans who are students of VUB are eligible no matter what school they choose to attend.  We will be happy to acknowledge your donation in writing to provide a receipt for you to use to itemize on your tax return if you wish.

Any donation $5.00 or up will be happily accepted.  Thank you in advance for any donation you can give.
