M.A.S.T.E.R Plan Event
For the past 17 years…WKU Freshmen have gotten a jump start on college life by attending MASTER Plan a week before school starts.
In this week’s “View from the Hill”, Amy Bingham shows us a new event that helps WKU give new students a proper introduction.
MASTER PLAN is all about making academic and social transitions educationally rewarding. This year, the Office of Diversity programs added a street fest called “W K AND U” to celebrate the uniqueness of the WKU community.
Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity…one of many organizations showcasing its talent and letting new students know there is a place for everyone at WKU.
“It’s pretty fun…you’re meeting people…it’s a good time.”
The WK and U street fest is one of many activities this week included in MASTER Plan…a chance for students to get acclimated to their new surroundings.
“I went here for orientation but had never seen the campus it was good it helped me find all my classes which was helpful.”
We’ve gotten to do a bunch of activities learning about campus and some things that go on…they’ve taught us about safety and prepared us for some things that could happen.”
Emily Beatty and Leslie Ford just met this week at MASTER Plan…but they are taking advantage of every opportunity to learn about WKU.
“Incoming freshmen don’t know a lot about Western and the diversity of WKU this shows what it exemplifies and everything Western has to offer.”
Many other organizations..including the Wesley Foundation and the Greentoppers took a turn on stage promoting themselves to a new audience….the class of 2013…who can’t wait for the adventure to begin.
“I’m really excited. I’m ready…got all my books…I’m ready to go.”
WKU is expected to set an enrollment record of more than 20-thousand students when the fall semester begins on Monday.
With this week’s View from the Hill, I’m Amy Bingham.
