Western Kentucky University will try a new marketing strategy this weekend when the red towel logo appears on a NASCAR automobile.
Amy Bingham has more on the exposure in this week’s View from the Hill.

Here’s your first look at the number 05 Chevrolet sporting WKU’s red towel. The car will compete in Saturday’s Federated Auto Parts 300.
“It’s a neat deal that Western is doing different types of marketing to promote the university , we are thrilled to death to have them on the race car this weekend, it’s pretty neat.”
Todd Wilkerson is the President of Mobile Marketing Solutions…a NASCAR marketing company based in Central City.
He’s also a WKU Alum.
“Western means a lot to me, it’s been a few years since I’ve went to school there but I’ve supported the university over the years.”
Mobile Marketing Solutions also used to be home to Brewco Motorsports which sponsored racers like Casey Atwood.
“Casey was one of our first drivers, he started with us in 1999 and drove with us a couple of year and won a couple of races.”
Casey is currently a free agent in NASCAR trying to re-establish himself. He’ll be behind the wheel of the WKU car Saturday night.
“It means a lot to him being in this area and being close to home. It’s gonna be an important race for Casey.”
And an important race to Western, putting the WKU brand in front of an audience that represents the largest spectator sport in the country.
The race at Nashville Superspeedway will be televised on ESPN2 on Saturday starting at six.
