Transition
to university experience. Topics include study skills,
critical thinking skills, library education, exploration of majors and
careers, degree programs, campus resources, and personal development.
Individual departments may offer sections for their majors addressing
additional topics relevant to their field of study (e.g., PSY 175, BIOL
175).
University Experience 275
(UC 275)
Prerequisites: UC 175
An introduction to the historical perspectives of civic engagement with intensive exploration of the nature of service as a civic responsibility. Other topics will include volunteerism and community service as related to poverty, literacy, political participation, mentoring, gender, and neighborhood development.
University Experience 375/376
(UC
375 or UC 376)
Seminar in Peer Mentoring. An
introduction to effective mentoring techniques including an examination
of mentoring theories and styles.
