Definitions
Intersession: winter term, spring break, summer term, fall break and winter holiday break
Intersession Parking: The parking plan in effect during the terms outside the Fall and Spring Semesters, and the breaks within the Fall and Spring Semesters, referred to here as intersession.
University Permit: Any parking permit issued by WKU Parking & Transportation Services that grants parking privileges on university property.
Policy Details
Intersession Parking is created to improve parking access to students, faculty, staff, contractors, vendors and guests during time periods when parking demands are lessened and shuttle service is suspended or limited. The following parking lots are enforced as follows when Intersession Parking is in effect.
Gated Faculty/Staff Lots
Gated Hilltop and Gated Regents require a gated permit unless prior arrangements are made through Parking & Transportation Services.
• Lots are enforced 7:00am – 11:00 pm Monday – Friday.
• Gates rise at 4:30pm Monday – Friday.
• Beginning 4:30pm Monday – Friday, a gated permit is no longer required, but a university parking permit must be displayed until 11:00 pm.
• Once gates rise at 4:30pm Friday, they remain open until 7:00am Monday, unless the lot is reserved for a special event.
• Routine enforcement
Premium and Non-Premium Faculty/Staff Lots
All Premium and Non-premium faculty/staff lots are enforced uniformly year round.
• Premium permit required for premium lots
• Non-Premium or Premium permit required for non-premium lots
• Visitors one day permits required for Premium or Non-premium lots
• Routine enforcement
Commuter and Housing Lots
All Commuter and Housing lots become “All Permits” zones during Intersession Parking.
• A university permit is required to be displayed.
• All university permits are honored in these lots.
o Temporary Contractor permits will be lot specific and will be determined on a per project basis.
All Permits Zones
During Intersession Parking, the following lots are available for parking without a university permit being displayed:
• Creason, Russellville Rd., Adams Street, Service & Supply Lot, SLF Gravel, Center Street Gravel
• These lots will be enforced for safety violations only.
