Changes to Faculty / Staff Parking

Changes for Faculty and Staff

Faculty / Staff parking changes for the 2015-2016 academic year.

2015-2016 FACULTY/STAFF PARKING MAP

Reserved Parking

Who is eligible?

  • All full time, benefits eligible Faculty and Staff will be eligible to request a Reserved Parking space on campus.

Where can I park with a Reserved Permit?

  • The Reserved Permit will be valid in your designated space and any non-reserved space in all zones, including faculty / staff Gated Lots.
  • If spaces are used for events/maintenance during business hours, alternate parking will be provided.

When is my reserved space enforced?

  • The Reserved space is for personal use Mon - Fri from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • If an unauthorized vehicle is parked in your space during business hours, call PTS to have vehicle cited or towed.

What does it cost?

  • Reserved parking is $655/year.
  • Permits may be payroll deducted from September – June.  Deadline is August 21st, 2015.

How do I request a reserved space?

  • Email PTS at transportation@wku.edu with request for reserved parking.  Please name the lot in which you are interested.
  • Requests will be reviewed and assigned as space allows in the requested area.
  • Waitlists will be maintained for high demand areas.

Alumni Square Garage (AS)

  • Guaranteed parking is available in the Alumni Square Garage (AS permit) for $240/year.

Gated Hilltop (GH) and Gated Regents (GR)

  • When current Gated permit holders purchase their permit, they will be issued new hang-tags.  The fee will remain $400/year.
  • Pay by the hour parking will be available in the Gated Regents Lot.  We will maintain guaranteed parking for Gated Regents permit holders in the lot.

Parking Parking (FS1 and FS2)

What is changing?

  • The Premium parking will be broken into two zones: FS1 (The Hill & Mimosa Lots) and FS2 (Diddle Area and South Lawn Lots).  See the 2015-16 Parking Zone Map to see the new zones.
    • FS1 permits will be allowed to park in FS1 and FS3 zones.
    • FS2 permits will be allowed to park in FS2 and FS3 zones.
  • Premium permits continue to have park-down privileges in AP – All Permits zones, C1 – Commuter (except PS2), C2- South Campus, and H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 – Housing zones.
  • The new fee for premium parking is $220/year.

Why is this being done?

  • By creating these zones, we will be able to more accurately match parking access with availability.  When we see empty spaces in either zone, we will be able to release names off the appropriate wait list.

How will permits be issued for the new year?

  • When fall permit sales begin, FS1 or FS2 permits will be sold on a first come, first served basis to current Premium (P) permit holders.
  • If your preferred zone is sold out, your options are:
    • Email transportation@wku.edu to be placed on the waitlist of your preferred lot.  Your position on the waitlist will be determined by the first date you purchased a Premium permit.
    • Purchase other available Faculty/Staff permits.

What will happen to the current Premium wait list?

  • We will duplicate the current Premium wait list for both of the new FS1 and FS2 zones.  You will remain on both lists until you are awarded the permit or you withdraw from either list.
  • You can add or delete your name from available waiting lists by logging in to your parking account or by e-mailing us at transportation@wku.edu.
  • We will monitor space availability in each zone throughout the Fall Semester and release names from the appropriate list as space allows.

What if I get an FS1 permit, but need to park in FS2 (or, vice versa…)?

  • You have park down privileges which allow parking in FS3 and AP zones.  If an FS3 lot or AP lot is nearby, you should park there.
  • Alternatively, a Departmental Permit may be used which allows out of zone parking for 2 hours to facilitate attending meetings or making deliveries.

Non-Premium Parking (FS3)(Previous NP)

  • Faculty/Staff Non-Premium parking will now be called “FS3”.  FS3 permits will be $100/yr.
  • A section of the North Chestnut Lot will be converted to public parking.  We will maintain the same number of FS3 spaces in the lot.

South Campus Park and Ride (C2)

  • South Campus park and ride permit will now be called “C2”.  C2 permits will remain $50/yr.
