The spirit of Western Kentucky University leaves a lasting impression on the lives of those who choose
to learn, live, and grow at Western. The spirit and tradition of Western can exist in more than memories with the Official Ring of Western Kentucky University offered by the WKU Alumni Association. The Official Ring captures the essence of Western and gives alumni the chance to take the heart of campus with them wherever they go. With the Official Ring, alumni can identify themselves to others as belonging to an exceptional group of people with that special spirit — the Western Spirit. The Official Ring was fashioned by a committee made up of students, alumni and faculty, all of whom share a great vision for a ring that forever symbolizes the history and pride of Western Kentucky University. This exclusive ring is recognized by Western Kentucky University and is only available to those who have earned the right to wear it.
Alumni and enrolled students who have completed 60 credit hours towards a baccalaureate degree, 30 credit hours towards an associates degree, and 15 credit hours towards a graduate degree are invited to participate in the Western Kentucky University Official Ring tradition.
Each semester, rings are presented to students during a formal class ring ceremony. President Gary Ransdell presents each ring to those who choose to participate.
